Mumbai vs Kolkata on March 31

After a dozen games in the 2025 season of the IPL, the table is finally taking shape. The iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, is set to witness its first IPL action of the season as the Mumbai Indians take on defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders in their respective third game of the season on Monday. So far, the two sides have played two games each in the season, with varying fortunes. The Hardik Pandya-led side have lost both their matches to make yet a rather underwhelming start to the season. The first game of the season saw Mumbai lose to Chennai Super Kings by four wickets at Chepauk. The team was already without skipper Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah (the latter being injured and set to miss the first few games of the season). Pandya’s return to the side didn’t help them either, as they lost to Gujarat Titans on Saturday in Motera. KKR, on the other hand, began their season with a loss to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) by seven wickets. In the next match, they broke a little sweat as they swatted aside the challenge from Rajasthan Royals to win their first game of the season. Skipper Ajinkya Rahane, who knows the conditions well, will be hoping to keep Mumbai’s losing streak going in what will be a critical encounter for the home team. KKR had the upper hand over Mumbai on both the occasions last season, with Venkatesh Iyer in particular playing well. They will be hoping to replicate something similar, while MI will enter with a fresh mindset in the game on Monday.

Best economical pick Varun Chakaravarthy could be the best bowler in the upcoming match against MI. Chakaravarthy, who has so far taken only three wickets in two games, will be dangerous in the forthcoming game. The spinner can bamboozle the batters with his variations. MI will need to be careful while facing the 33-year-old as he can dismantle the entire batting line-up.

Top captains & vice captains – The KKR star batter Quinton de Kock has been in a great form having racked up 101 runs in the last two matches. Must keep him as a captaincy pick in the upcoming game. Tilak Varma could be the batter to watch out for in the game against KKR. The southpaw has so far scored 70 runs in two innings, but hasn't converted the starts into a big score. However, with MI set to play their first game at home, Varma will be hopeful to make the most of it. The youngster will have the responsibility to anchor the innings and provide the finishing touches.

Smart pick The KKR skipper Ajinkya Rahane has piled up an incredible 74 runs from the last two matches. The stylish right-handed batter will be looking to continue his form going heading to this clash.

Cautious Pick Satyanarayana Raju, a 25-year-old right-arm medium-fast bowler from Andhra Pradesh, was acquired by Mumbai Indians for ₹30 lakh in the IPL 2025 auction. He made his IPL debut against Chennai Super Kings, where he was included in the starting XI. Given his limited IPL experience and modest performance in the previous match, it might be prudent to consider other players for your fantasy team in the upcoming game between Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians. Selecting players with a proven track record in the IPL or those currently in strong form could enhance your team's performance.

My XI – Quinton de Kock (Captain), Tilak Varma (Vice-Captain)Varun Chakaravarthy, Ajinkya Rahane, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Trent Boult, Rohit Sharma, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Mitchell Santner
