Bangalore vs Punjab on April 18

Royal Challengers Bengaluru will take on Punjab Kings in the 34th match of the Indian Premier League. This match will be played at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. 74 matches will be played across 13 cities over the next two months as the IPL fever kicks off. Qualifier 1 and the Eliminator will be played in Hyderabad on May 20 and 21, respectively. Qualifier 2, on May 23, and the final on May 25, will be in Kolkata. Royal Challengers Bengaluru are third in the points table with four wins and two losses in six matches. They beat Rajasthan Royals in the previous match by 8 wickets. Both their losses so far this season have come at home and that is something that RCB would want to rectify going forward. On the other hand, Punjab Kings beat Kolkata Knight Riders by 16 runs in the previous match. They defended a target of 111 runs which is the lowest total defended in the history of IPL and will be high on confidence. They are placed fourth in the table with four wins and two losses in six matches. This should be a closely fought game.

Best economical pick Priyansh Arya smashed a 40 ball century a few matches back against CSK and will be a budget pick against this opposition.

Top captains & vice captains Shreyas Iyer has scored 250 runs in five matches at an average of 83 and a strike rate of 208 so far in this edition. He will be a good captaincy pick. Virat Kohli is the leading run-getter in this history of IPL with more than 8000 runs. He will be a good vice captaincy pick for this match.

Smart pick Phil Salt scored 435 runs in the previous edition at a strike rate of 182. He will open the batting for RCB and can be a good option to have.

Cautious Pick Liam Livingstone has played 6 matches in IPL 2025 so far, scoring 94 runs at an average of 18.80 and a strike rate of 142, with one notable innings of 54 but otherwise inconsistent contributions with the bat. With the ball, he has taken 2 wickets, but his impact remains limited, and his fantasy value is currently moderate due to a lack of big scores and only occasional breakthroughs as a bowler. Based on this performance, you might consider avoiding Livingstone in your fantasy team for now unless you expect a turnaround, as he has not delivered consistent high-impact performances in IPL 2025 up to this point.

My XI – Shreyas Iyer (Captain), Virat Kohli (Vice-Captain)Phil Salt, Priyansh Arya, Rajat Patidar, Tim David, Josh Hazelwood, Prabhsimran Singh, Arshdeep Singh, Y Chahal, Nehal Wadheera
